A painful inflammation of the Achilles tendon. Common in athletes since the forces generated during sports activities far exceed the normal stress put on this tendon.
In addition to rest, elevate the heel with a lift to help limit the stretching of the Achilles tendon. As the pain subsides, you need to slowly and gently re-stretch and /or exercise the tendon to build strength. Gradually reduce the thickness of the heel lift as the tendon strengthens and the inflammation decreases.
